Title: Chapter 2

CHAPTER -2 P.O.V OF NILA

I could hardly believe my own ears. The excitement bubbling in my chest was quickly overshadowed by the realization of what Mikael had just said. His dad? The CEO of V.T. Marquez Enterprises? This was huge, and I was about to step into a world I had only ever dreamed of.

“Wait, your dad’s the CEO?” I said, narrowing my eyes at Mikael, who was now sporting a look of pure disbelief. “How did I not know this?”

“Maybe you’ve been too busy trying to insult me,” he shot back, crossing his arms over his chest. “You know, it’s hard to keep track of everything when you’re constantly in battle mode.”

Nicholas chuckled at our banter, clearly enjoying the dynamic. “Well, it looks like you’re going to be working with the enemy, Nila.”

“Don’t remind me,” I groaned. “This just got a whole lot more complicated.”

“Complicated? I think it just got interesting,” Mikael smirked, leaning back in his chair. “You’ll be at my mercy now, Nila. I can’t wait to see how this plays out.”

“Shut up, Mikael,” I snapped, though a part of me was intrigued by the challenge.

Carmen returned from the restroom, a mischievous grin on her face as she caught the tail end of our argument. “What did I miss? You two are at it again?”

“Just the usual,” I replied, rolling my eyes. “Mikael’s trying to convince me that working for his dad is a bad idea.”

“Is it?” Carmen asked, her eyebrows raised. “You’ve always wanted this, right? I mean, working for V.T. Marquez Enterprises is a big deal.”

“Yes, but…” I hesitated. “Mikael is going to be there. It’s like I’m stepping into a lion’s den.”

“More like a lion’s lair,” Mikael interjected, leaning closer. “You know I’m going to make your life a living hell, right?”

I shot him a glare that could freeze fire. “Not if I can help it.”

Suddenly, my phone buzzed again, the screen lighting up with an unknown number. I answered it, my heart racing in anticipation.

“Hello?” I said cautiously.

“Nila? This is Claire, from V.T. Marquez Enterprises. I wanted to discuss your upcoming role as personal assistant.”

My stomach dropped as I glanced at Mikael. “Uh, sure! What do you need to know?”

“Just some final details. Also, I wanted to let you know that the new CEO is quite unconventional. Be prepared for surprises.”

“Surprises?” I echoed, my mind racing. “What kind of surprises?”

“Let’s just say he has a unique way of handling things. I think you’ll like him—he’s not what you expect.”

“Great,” I muttered under my breath. “Just what I need.”

As I ended the call, I felt a mixture of excitement and dread. I was about to enter a world filled with potential peril, and I had no idea who the new CEO was or how my relationship with Mikael would change.

“Everything okay?” Carmen asked, her eyes searching mine for answers.

“Yeah, just… a lot to think about,” I replied, trying to mask my nerves. “Looks like my life is about to get a lot more complicated.”

Nicholas nudged Mikael playfully. “You better be nice to her, or I’ll have to step in.”

“Like you could ever intimidate me,” Mikael shot back, his grin returning. “But I won’t go easy on you, Nila. Just remember, you asked for this.”

As they continued their banter, I felt a strange sense of anticipation. Little did I know that the surprises Claire mentioned would soon turn my world upside down, and that the dynamic between Mikael and me would be just the beginning of an unexpected adventure.

With a deep breath, I resolved to face whatever was coming head-on. This was my moment, and I wasn’t going to let anyone, not even Mikael, stand in my way.

“Bring it on,” I murmured to myself, my determination solidifying as I prepared for the whirlwind that awaited me.

---

As the evening wore on, the conversation shifted, and laughter filled the air once more. However, I couldn't shake the feeling that my life was on the precipice of something monumental. And somewhere, lurking in the shadows, was the new CEO who would change everything.
